The list is my daily life, stretching joyously out before me.

It’s every step of presence and love and integrity and honesty and beauty.

The list writes itself as I live it. A smile on my face and freedom in my heart.

The list goes on.... and on.... and on.... and on.....

I agree with all of the above.

I also don't miss the morning brain fog and irritability when I wanted to drink but couldn't.

I definitely feel more at peace now!

Every. Single. Thing.

The only negative is my beast is mad at me and pacing in his cage.

Confidence, calmness, clear eyes, sober mornings, nothing to hide.

The nothing to hide thing is huge - no need to make deceitful plans, no bottles to shove behind the cabinet. Life is stressful enough.

All the above and then some:

Going to doctor and getting blood drawn and not having to worry a second about heavy drinking showing up in my results

Always being able to drive when needed to pick up my kids.

Not worrying about reeking of alcohol near someone in the morning after a night of drinking

Looking in the mirror and seeing bright white eyes, not puffy, blotchy skin

Losing the belly bloat

Remembering all late night conversations with my kids

Being the sane, responsible, reasonable, sober one when others are drinking to excess

Having almost $3,000 more in my bank account by not buying alcohol over the last 9 months

Crawling into a cozy bed with a washed face, brushed teeth, ready to fall asleep normally and healthfully (not just pass out)

Waking up after a sound night’s sleep, feeling great!

Easy to go on and on ...

-mental clarity
-the ability to follow through with your plans
-physical health
-mental health
-kinder/more respectful of the people and places around you
-serve as a better role model
-more productive
-things can be less predictable (maybe this seems counter-intuitive to the conventional wisdom, but you can usually guess how a night of drinking is going to turn out. whereas, you never know what will grab your attention when you're out sober)
-feel less shame/guilt
-life seems more pure
-better skin
-less empty calories

For me, just not drinking brought no lasting positives, only ever increasing misery. But that is how alcoholism is. Just take away the booze and its all down hill.

However just one benefit of getting into a solid recovery program, was that the drink stopped almost as a by-product. Everything else got exponentially better, but the greatest thing of all is I can look in the mirror and like who is looking back at me.
