dog attack at liquor store
Had a very strange experience. So I was driving home from work and the liquor store where I usually stop is approaching. I've been driving past pretty strong for the last week or so, staying away, playing the tape forward, focusing on my goals. But tonight I was not feeling as strong. I pulled into the parking lot. But there was a guy whose car had broken down and he was trying to push it into a parking place. He was struggling, so I jumped out to help him. His dog saw me and leaped out and started biting my legs. Hurt like heck. Actually drew blood in a few places. Needless to say, I jumped back quickly and got back into my car. I drove away. Now I'm home. Crazy close call. Don't have to be a genius to read into the symbolism of that dog.
I guess I need to really look at why I pulled into the parking lot in the first place. That dog might not be there next time.
Have a good weekend everyone,
Muley

I'm sorry you got bit, Muley, but I'm glad you stayed sober too.
Maybe go see a Dr - last thing you want is some infection.
I'd definitely think about why you drove into the parking lot tho.
What have you been doing for your recovery?

What a story. That dog has done a number of things, the first, I think, given you the very real reality of needing to attend to dog bites. Go to a doctor. The dog could have a disease, and you don’t want it. Get yourself checked out. Keep them clean. But also, because that dog did, like others said, keep you away from the door of the store, kind of knock you out of your plan to go in and buy booze, I’d take this opportunity to figure out what you were really doing there in the first place. What was your plan to stay sober, and why did you change it?
But seriously, get yourself checked out. Dog is god spelled backwards, but, dogs do carry disease and you don’t want that.
What an incredible story.

You guys are right. I cleaned up the cuts and they seem okay here in the morning. I'll keep my eye on them. Why did I turn into the store? I really don't know. Gotta figure that one out. It was like the AV was not there, if that makes sense. There was no debate, pull, or urge. Almost like there was a second AV who said, "look, he (the old AV) is gone, go for it!"
What am I doing for my recovery? I guess I relying too much on just my resolve. I mean I did some reading about AVRT, and I come here and read posts to remind myself what I am doing, why, and how I don't want to go back. But that was a close call. Maybe I need more?

Oh man.
First off, Kudos for trying to help a stranger...
That's cool.
But Very odd about the darn dog attack.
I think every time you think of buying booze... The incident will pop in your head.
BTW ... Would be worth it to go to a clinic and get checked. Better safe than sorry

I'd just do what I've done in the past...kick it aside and get my booze. If I want to drink, nothing will stop me. Just saying...the want to NOT drink, has to be stronger than the want/urge TO drink.
