Starting over, again
I am so tired of letting alcohol ruin my life. Last night, I missed out on a big family gathering-dinner because I got loaded on wine early and passed out before dinner. I always hate myself for doing this, but it never stops me from doing it again. I have plenty of signs that my drinking is affecting my body -- cold sweats, itchy skin -- but I keep right on doing it. I want to stop!
Okay! So today, don't drink.
Simple, not necessarily easy.
What can you do today to keep yourself from ingesting this poison that is threatening your health and relationships? (and I'm guessing it affects a lot more than that.)
Welcome to the site. I hope you make today your Day One sober and start to reclaim your one precious life.

Welcome LookingForSober. I understand the feeling well, missed lots of important things because I was too drunk or hung-over.
Have you ever been involved in a sobriety group like SR or a meeting based group? It really helps to be around other people who are getting sober or already there to keep you focused on recovery. You'll find a lot of support and information about all the different ways people have gone about quitting and staying quit.

Welcome to SR LookingForSober
I always recommend a recovery action plan - this explains what this is:

It's great to have you join us, LookingForSober. SR helped me end a lifetime of drinking. Knowing I was no longer alone made all the difference. You can turn it around & have a new beginning.
