Saying Hello
Hi All
Just a little note, to introduce myself.
My son is my addict. Life was turned upside down about 4 years ago, when I learned of his addiction to alcohol, valium, cocaine - and anything else he could get his hands on.
We had to evict him from the family home, and he ran the gauntlet of homeless units/flats. Using, then staying clean, then relapse - the merry go round of madness!
I'm in a strong position - now! I work on myself everyday, despite the fact he is clean, and appears settled at the moment. I refuse to allow myself to be dragged back to those insane times.
Hence I believe that continuing with my support, is vital to keep me strong, should the crazy times return.
Best wishes to you All
Much Love

Welcome to SR, Bute. I usually post over in the Family and Friends section as my qualifier is my ex-husband, but today I stopped by the Newcomers section and noticed your intro. I'm glad you found us here at SR. This place has provided me w/an incredible amount of information and inspiration, and I hope you find the same.
I'll link you to a couple of other sections of the forum you might like to explore:
Friends and Family section (this includes spouses, family members, significant others, friends) https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...ly-alcoholics/
Family Members section (this is specifically those whose qualifier is a child, parent or sibling) https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...ters-siblings/
Again, I hope you find support, learning and healing here. Hope to see you over in F&F.

Welcome Bute,
Glad you have a program. As an alcoholic and having a mother that is a big enabler without a program. I know I have to work hard to keep healthy boundaries with her. My mind wants me to take advantage. Good luck
