Racing Heart Early Mornings

I posted about this before weeks into my sobriety..heart palpations waking me up. They went away..now im getting close to 3 months and the racing heart is back and waking me up anywhere from 4 am to 7 am (today)..it goes away once i get up and move around..but geeze it really messes up sleeping for me! I have eaten candy a few hrs before i fall asleep the last few days..i wonder if there is a correlation? Any advice? Thanks!

You're gonna want to reach through the screen right about now.

Stop eating candy before bed?

I had a period in early sobriety where sugar started to affect me in a negative way. I took it as a sign to cut back.

You definitely want to check in with a doctor about that.

A pounding heart can come with a spike in blood sugar for those who are diabetic or pre-diabetic (speaking from experience). While spikes usually occur within a hour of eating a large amount of sugar/carbs, do a search on rebound hyperglycemia. That can occur in the early morning hours.

Again, check in with a doc. Your heart is nothing to mess around with. It could be something else.

That sounds a bit scary. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I hope you find the solution.

My blood pressure is normal actually! I did mention this before to my dr. Didnt really seem to be a huge concern to her. It has been like 2 hrs before bed..not like right before! Lol.

If it’s not candy it could be a panic attack of some sort.

If you're concerned about it go back to your doctor and express that concern - or see another one
