Lent

I知 not Catholic but I知 going to use Lent as a way to finally quit. My thinking is if I commit to god maybe I値l hold myself accountable.

You could also commit to getting to an AA meeting, finding a sponsor, and working the steps.

I quit wine for Lent a couple years back, and then ended up drinking beer instead.

I used Lent (2014) as my vehicle for escape as well. Admittedly, much of that was to do with keeping my old drinking buddies off my back for that period. My local pub landlord was doing the same, so I had him inside so people left us to it. They were a bloody nightmare when end of Lent came around and I stayed stopped, and there were plenty of sabotage attempts. Let's just say, that helped me to gauge my 'friendships'.

So far this is working for me. It痴 a beautiful day here in the Northeast and was thinking about going to the packie, but then I remembered my promise to God and decided against it.

Glad you have joined us, and decided to quit. During the next few weeks alsothink about putting other supports in place to help you stay sober after Easter. It is definitely worth it!
