Hello
Hello everyone,
So not really sure how to start this as a long time lurker but on 13 Dec I decided that I was going to give up alcohol namely because I realized it was taking me away from the stuff I love to do. At some point over the years my once in a while "night cap" became an every evening thing. While I was very strict with when I allowed myself to have the night cap (never before 9PM CST and never past 2AM CST) I figured when I started looking forward to it that I had a problem.

Thanks, it runs in my family on both sides. I thought since I was pretty strict with myself it was fine but I started lurking here about a year before I actually decided I had a problem. I'm actually happy this place exists it helped me look in the mirror and realize I needed to change.
Welcome Nesta! Congrats on your days since Dec!
There’s a December 2017 support group that you can join as well. I come from a long line of Eastern European alcoholics on both sides. My great grandpa died in his own vomit in a potato field all alone out there. My granddaddy died of cirrhosis. I lurked a long time as well, so it goes without me saying that you *know* how we are here for each other! Keep coming back.
I will not drink with y’all today
