When it was so hard to get away.

When I'd be at the liquor store before the end of the day.

When "I HAVE TO STOP" was my lonely refrain.

When I held on with all I had - to my pain.

When all of the evidence I handily ignored.

When I drank sad or happy, alone lost or bored.

When I just kept on making it worse, worse and worse.

I'm grateful and lucky not end up in a hearse.....

I remember when.....

I remember when I CHOSE.

I remember when I ACTED.

I remember when I made the turn to sobriety and kept at it no matter what, every day.

I remember all those awful days. Sometimes a flood of them overtakes me and I can't even identify with the person I was.

I'm so glad they're all just memories now.... they can't hurt me.

I remember how cherished life is.

I remember it's my choice.

I remember joy.

I remember freedom.

I remember integrity, sincerity, trustworthiness, reliability, love, happiness, presence.

I remember abundance.

I remember who I am..
