Liver function test
Well I was very surprised to find out that the liver function test that i had after 4 weeks of sobriety still shows my enzymes are still elevated. Am very disappointed with this as thought they would be back to normal by now.

I wouldn't be too disappointed Jtmlk. It can take a couple of months for it to start falling. Also depends on your diet. A deit high in sugar and fat and proccessed food can also caused raise liver enzymes as can certain medications. I bet in a couple more months they will be back to normal, if you don't drink. I think you are doing great.
Congrats on 4 weeks jtmkl. As others have mentioned, your body simply needs time to heal. We did a lot of damage to ourselves over the years.
Did you consult with your doctor on possible solutions? There are many factors that can lead to elevated enzymes, so it's a good idea to make sure you are addressing all areas of your health.

Mine are elevated too, my Dr suggested 3 months of abstinence then re test, along with giving up alcohol she also said I needed to lose weight and make some diet changes.
About a decade ago I had elevated enzymes (yet went back to drinking after they went down - such a stupid choice), although they had started to go down after a month, it was not by much. 6 months later they were back to normal.
Back then I saw that as a chance to go back to drinking in moderation and successfully did that for a while as the results had scared me, but over time that fear faded and the drinking increased little by little and my recent tests were so much worse.
So perhaps the fact yours are not going down yet is in a way a positive thing as it will encourage you to keep going in your sobriety. Four weeks is such a great start, well done.

A couple of years ago I had elevated liver enzymes. I was retested 3 months later and they were back to normal. Unfortunately, I've relapsed since then. Anyway, don't drink and I'm sure they'll be better when you next retest. Did they go down at all?
