i also received a pretty nasty one this morning,dave.
if you havent reported it to the mods, PLEASE do so now.
and best to not engage.
you did EXACTLY what you should have done- posted here.
what i did was look at it( after reporting it) and saw there was no truth to it.
then thought,"this is definatly a sick individual and i feel sorry for them."

at the top right of the PM there should be a triangle to click on- looks like the triangle down below a unsername on the right- next to the online status circle

Trolls are everywhere in the world of comment sections. I frequent a few on line websites(not recovery sites)with comment sections and there is always a dumb troll that pops up.
Just report it, besides if you had said something truly offensive it would have been removed

I really should've known better
Tad naive on here to think that would be a genuine person.
I have online activity on other sites and don't bat an eyelid at that stuff because I know better.
Thanks to Tomsteve I have deleted the message and now look forward to using and enjoying this site again as I have done since joining.
I will be more wary of this occurrence in the future

Hmm, I think someone has hacked the site. I just received the nastiest ever PM from YOU rockfish... I am now assuming it was not you that sent it? But it was very personal and detailed into stuff I have posted, so obviously someone following the site, not just a new arrival that is sending out mean stuff.

Hmmm, actually now the user name has changed, someone with only 4 posts. In my email alert it said it was from you rockfish, but now in my inbox there is a different name.

I think if someone has singled you out for a nasty comment then you must be doing something right.

People troll for all kinds of reasons, but the ones who come to a SR site and are cruel I suspect are probably drunk, filled with self loathing and projecting it on us. It is horrible to read, but ultimately I just pity them.

Not so sure it was a Bot, the message was very detailed and referenced things that I posted about months ago. It wasn't just a "you are scum, die!" post and run. It was very personal. The thing that confuses me is the user name, first it coming from Rockfish than showing up under a different name. Oh well.
