Rock bottom

Hi all, well if I thought I'd hit rock bottom before, I certainly have now.

I've come clean to family and my hubby about my addiction and have been to the doctors. All surprisingly very supportive. I've got rules about my detox at home from them and hoping I can come out of the other side a changed person!

Here's to a positive start!

Rach

Wishing you well Rach,

I found the amount of support to be surprising also; I see it as a reflection of the scale of our problem. The alcohol issue is clear to everyone but us. The support is there because they are relieved you are doing something about it and because they care for you.

All the best with the future

Great news Rach. I did the exact same thing two weeks ago. Saw my dr Jan 19 and detoxed at home. It wasn’t as bad as I imagined but I followed drs orders and had my better half with me. I’m glad to be on the other side of that part and now just pushing through day to day! Best of luck to you and I’m here if you need to talk!

Thanks everyone!

Just want this filth out of my body. I'm verging on the edge of hangover but the shakes are getting to me. Can't sleep for worry in a way.

I hope the doctor prescribed some medication to help with the shakes? If so, you can make it through until your next dose and you will be able to sleep. That's my experience, anyhow.

My experience without medication is that I needed to drink a boatload of water and pace. It helped although the no sleep made for very long nights indeed.

Either way, good for you and hang on!

Take a bath.

Thanks. Doesn't help I've not eaten for 3 days as well. The doc hasn't given me any mess for the shakes but I do have some anti sickness ones. Got 2 weeks off work too so hopefully sleepless nights will be covered.

This is a strange one, usually I can get away without the dreaded hangovers by can't seem to shift this.

Thanks

Rach

Hi Rach. I'm so glad you've decided to get free of it. Once it's out of your system you'll begin to heal - and then you never have to experience this again. It's a blessing you don't have to go to work - you can focus on getting well.

Hang in there-you can do it.
My last detox was not too long ago & it was one of the worst. Just laid in bed all day watching tv. Was hard to sleep since I got those dreaded nightmares that would wake me up, then rapid heartbeat and the nausea. But it passed.

best to you...

Going well thanks for asking. Going down in good amounts thanks to lovely husbands support and support of counselling services. Hope to get all this totally out of me ASAP for a new start.

How are you doin?
