This came up as my daily inspirational message on a sobriety counter app I have on my phone;
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
I liked it because it reminds me to focus on embracing a life of sobriety rather than 'resisting' alcohol.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
Viktor Frankl
When I'm pondering a particular aspect of recovery I like to find a quote that fits it. Then it becomes my mantra. This was from a few months ago when "Pause when agitated" was something I was actively practicing.
Now I'm pondering the idea that we 'get sober for ourselves'. That has never sat right for me. I get it, but it doesn't quite fit. When I figure it out, I'll find a quote and then I'll share about it. For now I'm still ruminating.....

Early days are the hardest. Hang in there!
