Licked

Into 14th day of sobriety.
My morning fog is lifting
And the euphoric endorphin's are receding

I must have this licked already

It's just down to me now. Normal me.
I understand the need better now than I ever did of recovery groups.
Complacency is now and that's the Achilles heel of the problem.

I know it's not licked. Everyday there's a possibility of failure. The support of others may be the difference

Thank you all for being there and recommending joining a local face to face recovery centre

I wish you all a diamond day

Congrats on 2 weeks Rockfish.

There may be some bumps ahead, sure, but no reason in the world why you can't successfully negotiate all the obstacles with a little planning forethought and commitment

Hi Rockfish
Be careful of those moving walls.
People run into them every day.
I hope your experience is that you are indeed through the worst of it. But be mindful be careful and maintain your sobriety. Complacency has caught many people as you will have read. No alcoholic wants to find themselves back at Groundhog Day. It is not like the movie.
Best wishes to you and hope my post is not all gloom and doom😉

2 weeks is a great milestone!

Might be a good time to reflect, maybe journal a little.... what's worked, what's been hard, what challenges have pointed to the 'right next steps' for you to ensure continued success?

You can do it!

Many thanks for replies. I'm OK. Cravings have been strong today but I'm settled and letting them go. Groundhog day is never coming.

Good on you for 14 days, Rockfish! Complacency was a huge problem for me, so keep up your guard constantly to avoid a relapse. Keep putting one sober foot in front of the other. Wishing you much strength and peace on your sober journey.

Congrats on 14 days! Over on the January thread, we talked about the idea that sobriety is not really a straight line up, but rather it trends upwards over time...so it's possible that things like fog, etc. might return, but as long as we can weather those little dips, things will only get better overall from here.
