Battle tested

My demons put me to the test tonight , I thought of so many excuses to have a drink tonight...looked for people who may want to drink etc...but at the end of the day they didn't win ...I'm afraid if I did find that excuse I would of.

Congrats on winning this round! Each round you win and eventually those demons won’t get up anymore. Good job

Hi Donnie

I'm glad you didn't drink but it sounded close. Apart from posting here do you have any other recovery tools or support?

This is the first type of support I've ever tried in my lifetime , aside from if i'm going to the gym 7 days a week which always helped me stay sober.

i think it would be wise to find more support. seems something happened with the whole gym thing or ya wouldnt have drank again. seems 7 days a week at the gym could be trading addictions.

I'm glad you got through that!

You can always find support here, and exercise will help, too.

I recommend recovery action plans - you might find some more ideas in the link here Donnie:

feel free to join our January support thread too

I stopped going to the gym , had an issue with a friend we made a year commitment and he decided he wanted to go with someone else ..and it hurt me a bit so I decided to take it out on myself. Which wasn't really rational thinking.

typical alcoholic thinking;" you hurt me so ill show you by hurting myself!"
i still suggest more support. the gym is good, but it wont work on the underlying issues(My demons put me to the test tonight) alcohol is just a symptom of.

I understand what you mean Tom , and I appreciate the advice. That's mainly why I posted on here because I want to succeed. I may want to look into some counseling.

Whoa . . . that really hits me hard. Yep. So very familiar.

How are you doing now?
