Expressing my gratitude
I'm 40 days sober today and the last time I posted was during a similar period of sobriety around this time last year. However, I've still continued to read on and off. Espically recently.
If you saw me from afar, you'd think I had everything going for me. What you wouldn't see is that 1-2x a week I binge drink until blackout. 25+ drinks is easily attainable. My hangovers are epic and I estimate about 1/2 of my life is spent barely being able to function because of them. Just enough to eek by but at the same time convince myself I don't have a problem.
This is my 2nd serious attempt to quit. Most days are very easy but there are still some difficult moments. I really do have to go day to day and not think too far ahead. In fact, I often admit that I'll probably drink again some day but tell myself I just can't worry about that right now.
Reading SR, journaling and listening to AA podcasts have been great tools. My sincereist thanks to you good people!

Congratulations on 40 days, omnicare!
I, also, did not look like a person in constant crisis due to alcohol.

Good call not to worry about the future now, but if you are predicting what might happen, why not predict a sober, healthy, shiny, happy person, that is you

Congrats on 40 days Omnicare!
This is my first time around and I have so much in common with you. Today is 100 days for me and what has been working for me is AA. I too have a lot of gratitude especially for the people I talk to at my regular AA meetings. I am a member of the 20/20 club- show up 20 minutes early and stay 20 minutes late for meetings. I also attend a step meeting once a week. Anyway, this is what is working for me. Good luck and I hope this helps.
