Saturday Night/Excuses

I had excuses to drink. There were many. I could “pull them out of my hat” easily. Get irritated at work-there ya go. Someone passes away (perhaps someone I hardly knew)- Yep. Nostalgia hits in some form- uh huh. New microwave doesn’t work- yeah.
I guess I was rationalizing getting in my cups.
Oh, and I’m of Irish descent- that was a biggie.
Man, I’m glad it’s getting better. One huge helper- I do not ever wanna get on this rollercoaster of emotions again.

Agree Rodney. Same for me.

I’m relaxing watching tv in a Saturday night. Felt a little bored and missed the drink.

Then I realize that watching tv and reading is “normal”

Just swigging from a bottle all night

I drank all day to keep the shakes at bay. So glad I'm sober now. Life is so much better this way.

Shaking, sweating and stinking of booze. The smell leaking from every pore and no matter how many mints you eat, nor how much aftershave you pile on, your colleagues look at you and catch the smell. They know, or they suspect at the very least - you're a drunk.

Your brain so fogged and f****ed up that you care, but don't have the energy to care quite enough to make tomorrow any different. Sitting in from of Sky Sports and watching the football game (what WAS the result by the way?) was SO worth it wasn't it?

But this is Saturday - there won't be colleagues, or mints, or aftershave or any of that to worry about tomorrow! But here's the problem. You're an alcoholic and you'll carry on doing the same on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday....

When do we draw a line in the sand and just say

"STOP THIS F****ING MADNESS RIGHT NOW!"
