Welcome! It IS possible, and you’ve found a great place to get some support while you do it.

Yes!

Hi Dlbkcn,

We can do this together
Jan 1 is my sober date as well. In the past I’ve had anywhere between 1 week and 40 days sober. But I keep trying. So tired though!

Need to make it stick this time! Post often and pamper yourself during this initial stage.

Wishing you the best!

Two weeks is possible but why stop there? The longer you go the easier it gets!

Hi Dlbkcn
I think two weeks is very possible - but like tekink said, why stop there?

3 days used to be my record - now I have over a decade sober - change is possible for anyone I think

D

Welcome aboard to SR! Two weeks would be a great milestone to reach. For me, at the beginning, just take it one day at a time. I will not drink today.

You can do it. The two week mark is just ahead in the month. Stay strong, hold fast and cross that finish line.

Two weeks sober, and longer, is possible and better than you can imagine. My favorite part of being sober is waking up feeling good every day!

I'm 6 years on the 14th of Feb 2018.

I initially wanted to not drink alcohol for a month.
Here I am 6 years later.
At first was really acutely aware of stopping. It was on my mind the whole time.
Like you maybe in that I was not sure how I was going to do and how long I might not drink for.
The longer I went the easier it became.

I used to say to myself at times when I found it hard going, that if I still felt the same the next day, then I could drink, but I was not drinking over it that same day.

The next day was always better and I never did drink.

The other wisdom I learned from hanging out on here was HALT.

Making sure I was never too Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired generally stopped any cravings for alcohol.

I wish you the best and I hope you keep us updated with your progression.
xx

Thank you!

I’m on day 4 and really am so encouraged by you guys. I said I want to make it to two weeks in my first post but really meant a life of sobriety. I just didn’t know how I’d even get this far.
Every word you guys say I’m eating up...soooooo encouraging!!! Love to all!
