Now...ah, now I’m feeling good. Healthy after being sober for 26 Days. This is the first time I’ve really stopped - a real decision- but I’ve not drank for various reasons. This summer I had a job that was 27 straight days so I didn’t drink. It was physically demanding and I knew I couldn’t. Then another time I was busy and didn’t drink for about 30. Both times I never decided to quit and I just started again when it was convenient.
The way I feel now is the opposite of a couple of weeks ago. Anxiety and stress made me want to get drunk. Now, however, I’ve got that feeling that I’m dried out and I can drink with no issues.
This time, though, I’ve went through the mental stuff and I know better. So, complacency is tricky, but this time I’m paying it no mind.

Early in my recovery I had to be constantly vigilant against urges to drink. But now I'm comfortable in my sobriety and hardly ever have drinking thoughts.

I am grateful for my sobriety every day when I wake up feeling good.

I am feeling so thankful that I don't have to do it anymore. I just can't forget where I came from cause it could end in a heartbeat.
