New Year- New Beginnings
As the final hours of the toughest year of my life tick away, I am contemplating all the good and bad moments of the past 12 months.
Obviously the worst moment came 8 months ago when my fiancée lost her battle with this disease. I was heartbroken, devastated, and depressed as one would expect.
But many good and even great moments have come since.
I’ve had the opportunity to reconnect with my friends, family, and especially my daughter.
The grief was something I imagined would never subside and yet in time as everyone says - the fog began to lift and I found a new freedom.
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life was to search out this forum and find all of the wonderful people here.
Though you are strangers and we will never meet in real life, I want you all to know that I can never express or repay my gratitude for everything I received here. Without you, I would have been lost.
The work on self discovery and recovery is hard. But if you can put in the effort then you can reap the rewards.
I begin 2018 with a hope that I haven’t known in a very long time.
And my hope for all of you is that you may each find your own peace and happiness.
Life is short. Life is precious. Life is hard. Life is rewarding.
Live your best possible life. It’s the only one you get
