I had weed last night and learned something valuablr

My cousin came around. Found him out back smoking a joint. I took a couple of drags. The "everything is okay" kinda vibe you get from weed, almost made me relapse. In the haze of the high, I opened a bottle of red wine (Lord knows how many times I have spentthe night with wine and weed) and was so close to drinking. But in the midst of the high, clarity hit me and I discarded the bottle. Empitied its contents do the sink.

Weed is a soft drug and I thought a couple of drags would not hurt. I was wrong. The weed altered my mind. Made me think I could handle having a glass of wine like a normal person. Had I had that first drink, I would be hungover right now. Way too close a call and I have learned to stay away from weed now. I know it is so easy for me to relapse when high.

I could have told you that, but I'm glad you learned it for yourself tiredwoman.

I really recommend going full steam ahead with abstinence - drink and recreation drug use - it's the only way to make change happen.

You are right. I was naive thinking a couple of drags would not hurt.

I never liked weed. Just made me want a really long snooze.

Cocaine was different. I dabbled in that for a bit until I nearly lost my life one night by taking too much of it.

I kicked drugs, smoking cigarettes and gambling years ago. Now I just need to get rid of alcohol for good.

I suggest you do the same TW - but you know that!

Interesting... Although I haven't smoked weed in a few years. I can see how it could "open" the door.

Good going by not drinking!

Weed does the opposite for me. It makes me more paranoid, makes me think more which leads to me thinking more about the consequences of drinking and using hard drugs... It actually has helped me avoid drinking in the past and continues to do so.

In no way I am promoting the use of weed but I am being honest.

That said, to each their own. You gotta do what works for you and obviously abstaining from weed is the ideal choice for you as an individual.

Ok so I'm not a neuro-science expert but I believe any drug, hard/soft whatever, hijacks the ole dopamine receptors in pretty similar ways. So its normal that you would then crave your drug of choice....you've traveled the same neuro-pathway by smoking pot. I'm glad you see, through experience, that connection. Take a drug (hard or soft), take a mind altering pill (yes prescription counts) and that's using. For me it resets the craving cycle back to go. Even sugar does this for me. I'm on day 2 without sugar and I'm pretty sure I'll start craving alcohol more over the next few weeks. Just is.

I personally believe its easier to completely stop using mind altering substances rather than straddling the fence by using some stuff and not others, its a constant pull on your brain to get f'ed up. Seems like torture to me. Best of luck to you.

Sweetheart. You fed that AV of yours and sent it on the rampage.

We can't afford to play games with this stuff.

"almost made me relapse"

You DID relapse. Good job though seeing the mistake and getting back on the horse. There is no reason this can't be your last day 1!
