1 Year and 1 Day
Meant to post yesterday on making it to the year but I was too busy with other things and clean forgot about it; I think that's probably a good thing. It's been a heck of a year; got made redundant from a job of 20 years 1/2 way through, and been going through a lot of stuff that's been difficult to deal with and I am still struggling to get back into work. Somehow I've managed to keep it together and stay off the booze. I can only imagine how bad things would have been if I had been still drinking; I think everything would have got very bad very fast.
I really do appreciate my sobriety now and want to hold onto it; thanks for all those people who helped me out last year, it made a huge difference.
It might seem a bit weird to some people quitting just before Christmas but certainly for me there was no better time, I'm glad I did. If you are thinking about stopping right now, just do it, it's totally worth it.
I hope I am still sane and sober this time next year.
Good luck everyone and Happy (booze free) Christmas to you all.

Congratulations on 1 year! Personally, I think quitting right before the holidays is a great time so you can cruise through them sober while motivation is high.
