200 days = $2,000

I hit 200 days sober the other day, and the counter on my phone also noted $2,000 saved. (That's because I easily went through a $10 bottle of wine every day, and then some.) Of course, the benefits are greater than even the money saved, but what a nice bonus on top of it! Crazy to think of the time, money and energy spent on feeding that addiction, and everything lost (opportunity, health, connection with family) on top of the money spent.

Nothing good comes from it. It's all a lie.

What a great way to think of it and big time Congrats on 200 days!
I am with you — just imagining all the money and time I wasted drinking a poison that destroys my body, mind and life! Argh!
I paid people thousands upon thousands of dollars for a poison that made me vomit, gave me horrible hangovers, damages my brain, heart and liver, sent me to emergency rooms and jail, deprived me of all memories in blackouts, depressed me and disrupted my sleep and made me act like a loud obnoxious moron! Oh yeah, it’s addictive so it also damages my brain in a way that generates cravings and desire to drink more poison while deluding me into thinking it was ok!! Argh!!!

I use an app called Sober Time. Not only does it track your days, but also the money you've saved.

Since 5/9/17, I've saved $5000 on alcohol and nicotine. Since I was drinking a lot of expensive wine, my per-day estimate is at least $20.

Estimating $10 a day for wine, in the last 8 yrs I've saved $29,000! Probably more than that.

The other perk of living sober is that my bills are paid.

Congrats on 200 days sober!

Well done, tealily, on 200'days of sobriety and on saving a huge amount of money.

Is it time for retail therapy?

Love these responses! Thank you. (Yes, maybe “healthy” retail therapy is in order!)

Least, wow, that is jaw-dropping isn’t it? Outstanding! Life-changing in many ways. Congratulations on your recent big milestone anniversary! Just fantastic. Thanks for all you do, for so many!

I spent about $240 a month, but is was increasing steadily. I’m glad to be nearing 8 months. It will be nice to be in a year where all is fresh and untouched by alcohol.

I have a 50 inch TV and a Samsung Galaxy 8 that I didn't have when I quit 11 months ago. Never been materialistic and needed new ones anyway, but sure felt good to know I could get them, thanks to quitting booze. x
