Day 6: This is rough

Physically I feel great. This morning was wondrous. Then anxiety started amping up during the day, and I became as irritable as a pi$$ed off rattlesnake. Had a couple of chocalate cupcakes, and honestly, made me feel better.

Before that, all I could think about was making it all go away with a couple of drinks. Then I played the tape forward. Been there done that.

So I decided to post here instead. And maybe have another cupcake! Man this is a rollercoaster.

I was angry, irritable, short-tempered too that first month. It gets better.

Our emotions are all over the place in early sobriety.
Maybe your sugar levels were crashing?

I was an emotional rollercoaster for the first 6 months, lots of anxiety and I'd get pissed at the drop of a dime. I'm typically calm and even, it takes a lot to get me. I still get waves of it but it doesn't cause me to crave drinks these days.

It takes a while for our brains to adjust to the new normal, it's one of those things only time can fix and having a drink would just reset that clock.

Have you looked into stuff for your anxiety? I know after 45-60days? I was 'OK' on that(anxiety),,but, I take anxiety meds when "needed",so I had that 'crutch'.

Yes, it's rough at first but it gets better, slowly but surely. Don't drink, no matter what, and it will get better.

It does get better, or none of us would still be here

Even tho I really didn't want to do it, making a gratitude list when I was POed helped me over myself

Thanks y’all. I’m at the gym. Feeling better. I was going to go to an AA but this is more useful. And as some have said on SR, no one ever woke up and said “man I am so glad I got hammered last night!”
