2 weeks sober - seems longer!

I've only been sober for 2 weeks. . . it feels longer than this! Did anyone else feel that time went by really slowly when newly sober? I am feeling healthier and I am enjoying waking up feeling positive. . .it just feels like forever since I have had a drink. Is this normal?

Yes, I had that feeling especially the first couple weeks and into the first thirty days. Soon I was able to think of other things than wine or see every liquor store I drove by. 9 days felt like a year. But it lessened as time went on, particularly after the first 30 days. Hang is there this is all normal and it will pass. It helps to introduce your brain to other things like reading, art or some active hobby.

Congrats, Miss.
Hang in there. Things get better, more normal, in time.

I've started an exercise program 3-4 times a week. It's a killer but keeps me focussed on something else! I know it will also take months to reap the rewards of that too! I realise how impatient I am. . . always want results immediately. I don't know if it's just an unfortunate part of my personality or if alcohol had any thing to do with it!

Great job on that two week milestone! It gets so much easier, the more days you put together.

Congratulations on two weeks of sobriety, misscostalot.

Time moved slowly at first. Now it is flying by.

Be patient with yourself. Things are going to get much easier.

Congrats on 2 weeks .
An analogy comes to mind when I was working in security 12 hour nightshift my last shift always dragged ,each hour seemed like 3 hours ! why ? because I was so focused on the clock .

Just let go and try to be occupied , outside of your own mind so to speak ,it does get better .
