I need community
Ugh. I hate needing people. I hate admitting it. I miss the folks at my outpatient treatment. I want to go back there. I can’t take off work. Well, I probably could.... I feel like wearing a sign that says “please be my friend. But I won’t call you or be available.”
I hate that when I miss my Antabuse dose my brain starts trying to figure out how to drink. Who to lie to. Why it doesn’t matter..

even the most introverted of us need community. it's a basic human need. connectedness is a key part of our makeup.
please don't lament your need for community, instead, please look at it as just one of many facets of your human self and give it healthy community by engaging in activity with healthy others. AA meetings, volunteer work, a hobby, organize a sober walking or hiking group.... the possibilities abound and community is not only a tool in our sobriety toolkit but a deeply-rewarding part of Being Human.
