Day 1 coming to an end
Yep, I have successfully made it all day without a drink. I will be going to bed 100% sober. I stuck with my plan today, including the meds to help with withdrawal, and it has been worth it.
The Celebrate Recovery Meeting went very well and I really think this is the right group for me. They are a close knit group that is very welcoming to “outsiders”. The faith based part is what I also need.
What blows my mind is just today I thought how I wish I had a turkey for thanksgiving, but honestly couldn’t afford to get one. (Thanks to my past drinking expenses.) After the meeting they asked if anyone needed a turkey. I didn’t say a word because I was new. Well a lady looked at me and specifically asked me if I had one. I was honest and said no. I left there with a turkey AND all the sides for a nice thanksgiving lunch. That means so much to me.
Tonight gave me hope that there is a better life out there. There are people with struggles who are willing to accept and help the newcomers who are severely struggling and a hot mess.
I’m so grateful to be sober today. I’m thankful to have found this site many years ago and the group I found tonight.
Tomorrow I’ll be posting about my day 2 accomplishment.

I now have a turkey thanks to them. I was floored. Sometimes our higher power needs to show us we’re not alone even when we think we are.
