Please help me
I don't know how to do this I just had open heart surgery with serious side effects due to alcohol withdrawal 30 days of nightmares in an coma I really need help I'm drinking harder than ever I won't survive without help
Jayw11231970, you survived open heart surgery and I am happy for you. I think I would be frightened outta my wits and perhaps you are too. I doubt drinking at a time like this is making things better. Follow your doctors advice and stay here for support. I've made it for 7 years now without a drink. Rootin for ya.
Welcome to SR, Jay! I'm glad you found us here. It sounds like you've survived a scary situation, and I'd be scared, too. The good news is that if you want to stop drinking it can be done. There is hope. Lots of folks at SR have saved their lives from addiction and you can too.
Hi and welcome to you. It is generally recommended that people speak to their doctor about their problem with alcohol and how they should safely quit but I would say in your case it is absolutely essential. Please, speak to your doctor immediately. I don't know anything about medicine really but I do know alcohol and quitting alcohol greatly affects every organ in the body, but especially the heart. You really must speak to your doctor.
Stick around here too, we are all here for you for support and we fully understand being in a situation where quitting is absolutely urgent yet still so incredibly difficult.
It seems like it would be a no-brainer.... "oh I just had open heart surgery, I should definitely not drink" Yet you/we can't stop. It makes no logical sense but alcoholism is not logical. The good news is that you can quit, many of us have and you can to.
First things first talk to your doctor. Next look into some face to face support near you. Rehab really would be a good option. You will be in a safe environment where you can also rest after your surgery. If not, look into some sort of out-patient care, AA, therapy, etc. This site is also a huge support for so many and can be for you too.
