Chronic relapser...finally made it! 1 year today!!!

I joined here in August of 2011 just before heading into my 1st rehab. Since then I've been to rehab 3 more times and last November I landed in the hospital for 10 days with my BAC so high they were surprised I was still alive.

I've come on here and joined different groups through the years and vowed that I would make it this time....and each time I failed.

I was too embarrassed to join yet another group until I felt I had something to offer...well...today I reached a milestone!

I'm going to the cemetery today to visit my Dad to share my good news. He passed away last May and the one thing he wanted was for me to get and stay sober. Dad....I did it!!!!!

Heartfelt congratulations, Happyfeet! I wish you could have felt less shame and shared your journey with us here...but each of us have to find the way that fits us...SO happy you did that!!!

This is wonderful, congratulations I am so happy for you and for me your post gives me hope

My dad birthday was yesterday he is also gone and i know he would not have liked the live i had been living. today i am 19 days. I know you dad will be oh so happy with the news.

Congrats! That is a milestone close to my heart.

Both times I got to a year clean, I made the mistake of ingesting a little booze.

I had a reason each time that didn't involve getting drunk....regardless....

..both times i regretted consuming the booze....

Just a little bit was enough to alter the super clean feeling 1 year created for me...

It is still getting better for me each day.
