Once upon a time....

There was this young guy, who had life by the horns, or so he thought.
And as time went by, he vowed he would not change, why should he have to change to fit in with people.
They should accept him for who he is and his way of dealing with life's problems, right?, it is there problem they cannot see the logic in self destruction or total escape until morning.
But then....
Twenty some years go by, and the people around him do come to accept his way, sympathy is replaced with apathy and dismissal.
Soon he has lost his safety net that everyone comes to count on.
But his way is the way of the clouds, laughter, and good times with his buddies.
But soon some force in the universe say's ENOUGH!, with so much force that even his buddies got out of the way!.
As they too hid there apathy from him and did not have answers themselves, or constructive solutions to problems.
Once alone, truly alone..
He, for the first time is actually being forced to deal with his problems.
WITHOUT A NET!!, are they crazy?!!
NO!, this is what he was meant to learn over the twenty years, he just missed the classes, got left behind.
Once the tears subside, our hero finds he feels better, hows this?!.
Well first he realizes he still has twenty more years to take the classes, and in time learn the right problem solving techniques.
And maybe the people he should be able to count on won't dismiss him as a lost cause and untrustworthy.
He can allways make a new net...
The End.

Thanks for all the support I have recieved so far, 7 days clean.

What a wonderful thing, seven days. Good for you! Keep strong, keep clean - you are doing fabulously! And thank you, too, for being a part of the inspiration I need to stay sober.

Yes, lost puppy, drinking and using are ways to avoid life, avoid pain, avoid feeling. But that only brings more pain and suffering. Being clean and scber IS the softer, easier way in the long run. Congrats on day 7. Hang in there and keep reaching out.
