First 24 hours sober
Hi I just completed my first 24 hours sober from alcohol. I attended EVERY a.a. meeting in the city, called everyone I met for advice and was offered some really helpful advice from members celebrating 10 years of sobriety. EVERY time I craved a drink I called a member. I sucked down honey with cayenne pepper in it. Took b12 and prenatal vitamins and drank Powerade and I can feel a big difference. I know I want to be in a hurry to be sober but today made me realize sometimes we make strides and sometimes its baby steps but as long as. I keep moving forward I avoid falling back
Hello, welcome and congratulations on your decision to take action to stop drinking.
I sure sounds like you're on the right path. Good job on hitting those meetings and making calls.
You can do this.
It's great to have you here and many more twenty fur hours to you, one day at a time.

Hi Heathen - we're so glad you joined us.
You sound ready to get free of it. I think posting and reading here will help too. You're among friends who care & understand. I quit after drinking for 30 yrs. mainly due to the support & encouragement I found here. You can do it!

Welcome Heathen!! SR is an incredibly supportive community and I am glad you have joined us!!
One great thread for support are the monthly classes, you should join the October of 2017class, you will find the support of others who have committed or recommitted to sobriety this month.
Another great thread is the 24 hour thread. It is a great place to check in and commit to the next 24 hours.
It is hard in the beginning, but I promise it gets easier each day, and sobriety is so worth it.
Looking forward to seeing you on here!
