Not doing great today

Just cant stop thinking about it.

Im really tired, have been for days because Im not getting great sleep. Its made me irritable and cant stop thinking about drinking today.
I feel embarrassed and angry and not sure how it all just seems to fly out the window.
Told myself i needed to post first no matter what. frustrated tears.
just cant seem to keep myself together and strong

Feeling the same Mandy

My first weekend☹️ I Have a family party this Sunday and all I can think about is drinking and how not drinking will be boring and awkward and filled with social anxiety.
Hopefully it gets easier as time goes on.

Keep the chin up 👍🏻

Yes, you can.
You have.
The early days are the hardest.
Eat if you are hungry.
Drink lots of water.
Try to get some gentle exercise.
Deep in and out breaths.
It is a craving like any other, and cravings pass.
Tonight, how about a hot bath, some stretching, especially in the neck and shoulders, which get very tight when we are tense, and maybe a warm beverage?
This will pass. You will come out whole on the other side.

Maid at is so right and this will pass and feel better.

I am still going through a lot of “firsts” myself.
The first weekend, party, meal out, holiday etc can be tough but it’s only a first once.

You will feel so much better on Monday keeping your sobriety safe.
All the best

Mandy, it's hard to feel great when you're tired and not sleeping well. Have faith that things will improve.

Mandy and Mike, it really does get easier with time. If you are worried you might drink think about sitting out events this weekend where there will be alcohol.

Mike, I used to worry I would be bored, or boring, but I think it was more adjusting to being in social situations without alcohol.

Hang in there, you both can do it!

My husband took me out for Chinese buffet. I ate so much I could burst and I had water to drink with my meal.

The ugliness has certainly passed I couldn't even think about a drink. Now I just want to curl up and sleep lol

I will walk the dogs though and try and digest. Idk that this is the best solution to my cravings, I'll be sober but ginormous lol

Ty for indulging me, I'm always going to try and make myself post when I crave.

4 days in means you ARE doing good! I sure have my ugly moments, it's hard to talk myself down sometimes but that's what this place is for.

I managed to move past the moment, I had a change of scenery, and a meal , I went for a walk. I'm back on track for a sober weekend .. Hang in there we can do this!!!

Early recovery hard for most of us - try and be gentle with yourself as mind and body heals

Unlike when we were drinking we only tend to have have bad days now, not bad weeks months or years

Hope you get some sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow Mandy
