Eyes Wide Open

As I get ready for bed I'm thinking about how this day went.
I was super shaky, in tears at work today, and someone said to me as I started to cry, let it out, it's okay. It's okay to feel. That was important to hear. Not that I want to make a habit of crying at work, but guess what, I did and it was okay.
Then, I had a family engagement that I was super stressed over, but somewhat prepared for just by reading many posts on here prior. There is a ton of good stuff here and I'm grateful for the suggestions. I would not have known that there are pages on spirituality and anxiety, etc.
it's good stuff.
Eyes Wide Open
I got to keep my addiction in check.

I'm sitting in the break room at work right now, holding back the tears and filled with anxiety. I feel super anxious. I know this shall pass. Today's a tough day. I'm taking my cat to the vet. I noticed he's been declining in health the last few weeks , but I also know if I was still drinking I probably wouldn't have been able to even call the vet today. All good things in time. Hope my baby is okay. Feeling anxious. Rightfully so -Day 3 ....

Hang on. Get through this week and it will get a lot better.

I'm glad you're honoring your kitty by getting him to the vet.

Try some Box Breathing:

Learning how to deal with my anxiety - one day at a time. Took my cat to the vet and I feel a sense of relief. I get his blood work tomorrow. This simply reminds me I can take care of things under stress without medicating.

Hugs. I get very anxious when I quit drinking. Heck I'm anxious anyway. The good thing is, at least your sober today.

The anxiety is going to let up. That's the best part of continuous sobriety.

It maybe won't go completely away for a few months, but it's going to get 1000% better. Yep, I just invented 1000%.

I kept working on the breathing, and reading about anxiety and how to self-treat it.

I'm proud of you waxfruit - for your sober days and for taking Mr. Meow to the vet.

Haha. I've invented many words and equations myself.
I love Mr-Meow. Pets are the best therapy.

Anxiety:
In the mornings, I used to do meditations with an app called "headspace." It was recommended by a therapist I saw a few years ago and just recently dl the app and need to get back on it. I also benefited from the box breathing and was telling one of my coworkers (actually, I don't have the job yet, still volunteering at the animal shelter -interview is next week. L, but he had the app on his watch.
We were doing it together outside today. You've been very helpful. Thank you.

Overall my day went well with the help of you all with a few minor thoughts of, can I drink normally? Not. At. All. Who am I kidding....

I had trouble meditating in early days. I listened to a lot of white noise and/or beach sounds in early days. I also walked a lot. Walking outdoors is immensely helpful to me - Nature has a way.

That first drink is the one to worry about. No first drink. I don't drink. Not ever, no matter what my thoughts tell me about it - I don't drink.

Thank you so much for your advice and time. Every thing you say I take to heart.

Love that! Thank you .

And I got my cats results. He is super healthy! All is well. I'm sure he's sensing my stress and constant detoxing.
One day at a time.

I'm a much better cat-parent now that I'm sober.

Both my cats have chronic kidney disease, so I have to give them both sub-q fluids. They're 16-ish years old, though. Shelter cats.

They like it much better that I'm not a smelly passed-out drinker.

I'm glad your kitty got a clean bill of health.
