Trying to get to 30 days
I'm on a mission to make it to 30 days. Today is 13 sober days for me. So I'm getting there. This is a great journey to be on. Who wants to join me on my mission? We can't make it alone, but we can do it together. I truly believe there is strength in numbers.
ONE DAY AT A TIME
ONE DAY AT A TIME
Hiya, Hope -
I'm right there with you! Thank you for your encouraging words this morning. Your Day 30 will be my Day 18 - which will, in itself, be a small miracle. I agree - there is strength in numbers. Congratulations on day 13!

Hi Hope,
There are a lot of clean and sober people, with many many years of sobriety, that started just like you; I am one of them.
We all had a plan however:
1) Attending meetings at either AA or Na (lots and lots of meetings) and making a commitment to attend 90 meetings in 90 days.
2) Getting a sponsor. Temporary sponsors are good for temporary sobriety.
3) Working the steps. At this point you can certainly work the first 3.
4) Reading the literature. Both NA and AA have books (referred to as texts) that spell out a program of recovery.
5) Getting phone numbers. That way, if you feel like drinking or using, you can call someone and go over it.
It's wonderful that you are reaching out for help posting your goal here, however, it takes a lot more work than that to stay sober.
Good luck,
Jim

Hi DrFrier,
Thanks for outlining the AA/NA plan. I've been going to meetings and trying to build a good support system so I have a plan of action in place when moments of temptation happen. A lot of the work involves changing the person. Alcohol/drugs are but a symptom. Staying sober is the best work we could ever accomplish.

relate to the discussions.
Keep it in Today and enjoy the moments we have. Just For Today
Welcome and congratulations on the choices you all have made.
Go for the 30 day chip but remember we ALL do it one 24 hour period at a time.
A focus for just today makes the journey easier. A goal for tomorrow makes the journey worth the effort.
What a wonderful start you all have. Good for you.
Meetings, the 12 steps, support from others... yes we don't need do it alone.

Go for it *Smile*
Day 5 for me. Well, it will be 96 hours at 3:00. My math ain't that good, though.
Feeling twice as good everyday. Looking forward to 30 days. Thanks to everyone who talked me through my hell last night. Couldn't have done it without you.
