What Ive learnt in 20 days

Hi everyone, feeling really good that iam a good distance away from day 1.

Day 1 = what a nightmare.

Just thought I'd write up on what I've learnt about my addiction so far.

- I don't crave the taste, I crave the buzz after the first drink. and then the binge buzz

- I definitely do NOT crave the hangover, infact, it's one of the main reasons I don't give in, just the thought of that headache and other symptoms, especially after 3 weeks gives me genuine drive to not buy any alcohol.

- everyday, 8p is when the BIG craving hits.

-ive learnt that sobriety has momentum, the more days go by, the more energy/passion is created to stay sober. As tempting as drinking is, staying sober and being fresh tomorrow is even more tempting due to that momentum.

- it's gonna be a challenge.

Conclusion - today , I nearly drank. I was Infront of the shop (walking past) and I stopped and decided to go in. Within a second I stopped and turned back.

I don't actually know what made me turn away, or what is keeping me sober, something inside my head clicks at craving momnents, and I just suddenly enjoy being fresh and sober.

At those moments, being sober is actually more appealing then having a drink or two. (Or 10+ in my case)

This, absolutely. And the more you benefit from sobriety, the more protective you become of it.
