Son wants help but no insurance or money

Does anyone have any leads on how to get help for my son who is in PA and we are in NC. He is pleading for help and has no job, insurance or money. Just need somewhere to begin finding affordable or free help for him.

The Salvation Army has a free program. Just google them in PA...there should be several. Good luck!

A lot of rehabs will give scholarships. You have to call and ask, but some will. Also SAMHSA.gov (https://www.samhsa.gov/) is a tool that you can try. Best of luck.

thanks...... My husband, also, is an alcoholic that still struggles a couple days a month. I don't know how to handle all this and just want to be supportive without jumping in to "save". I just want peace for all of us

Definitely have him go to the salvation army. They will clothe him, feed him and allow him to work to take care of the costs.

As others have said, the Salvation Army has very good rehab programs and they cost nothing.

This link will connect you to a few Pennsylvania programs...

Western Pennsylvania Division - Adult Rehabilitation Centers

Or this one...

List of Affordable or Free Programs for Drug & Alcohol Abuse in Pennsylvania

Maybe send this to your son and let him make the connection.

Good luck.

AA/NA meetings are free and if he needs a ride to get to a meeting, that can be arranged.

If he has no job, assets, or insurance, he should qualify for state assistance?? Check into that.

An excellent free program not an easy one I know several who have sobered up there and stayed sober.

He is safe

My son got into a rehab and they are getting hims state assistance and will help him get into a rehab. He went in yesterday and was withdrawing pretty bad. His counselor and he called this morning and they are working on a plan of care and he sounded good and willing to take the next step. Praying this is what he needs especially since he wants help.

That is very good news about your son. I pray he has a positive experience.

Now might be a very good time for you to look into some recovery program for yourself. Like Al-anon or personal counseling to help you deal with both your son and your husband.
