Still doing well

Hi everyone.I haven't posted since May of this year,reckoned you all needed a break from my moanings!Anyhow,missed contributing and receiving all the wonderful replies.I couldn't have coped plus reached where I now am in my sober life without you all.I am 18months sober now and a different person in many ways.To all you folk in the early days of your recovery journey,keep posting on SR .They are the best!!

Hi DI22y.Well hope my reply is helpfull.My journey began in May 2016.I decided to go cold turkey after 18yrs of heavy drinking...and was very soon onboard with SR!I was drinking to blot out a whole host of negatives from decades ago.For the last couple of years of drinking I simply was dependant.I was fortunate in not relapsing but it was very hard living through the mental adjustments and getting a recovery plan together.Recovery takes time.I set myself goals and kept very busy.Most importantly I forgave myself for so much.A recovery plan is so important,whatever works for you.And relapsing is not a failing.Life can be darned hard.And feeling mentaly able to get by without a drink truely takes a while.x
