Just checking in because I really want to drink.

I haven't wanted to drink in a while. Last night I had a dream that I guzzled down a bottle of beer and a glass of wine. When asked, in the dream, if I drank anything, I lied and said I didn't. Tonight is a crisp fall-like evening. The bugs are chirping outside, all the windows are open and damn, I want a Sam Adams seasonal brew right now. My SO is drinking one right now.. but the difference between him and I is he's had his first beer opened now for an hour and he isn't finished with it. Me? I could have downed 3 by now.

My life is so much better without that poison flooding my body. I wake up early, I haven't thrown up, no black outs, no guilt, no crying, no moodiness, and I'm saving so much money by just not purchasing that garbage. I've enjoyed the whole summer without it.. BBQ's, concerts, trips, baseball games, etc.. My life is better without it.

That's all from me. I just needed to write really quick to get it out of my system. Almost five months sober.. keep going..

Just keep playing the tape forward....it isn't worth it! Make a good cup of hot chocolate or tea instead. Congratulations on almost 5 months sober. That is great.

I recommend reading old threads again Nikka.

We're different to other people...but we can start new summer traditions too

why not look around for recipes for yummy drinks - you could have a pitcher of thirst quenching home made drinks ready for the next bug chirping calm fall night

You are getting comfortable in sobriety and your AV feels it.

Flex those sober muscles and use all the tools we have learned here!

You are doing great by coming here and posting first before drinking. We are with you.

Would it be worth asking your SO not to drink at home when it is just you two? If his beer has been open over an hour, could he just not have one in solidarity with you?

I'm glad you got thru that still sober. Congrats on five months! The longer you're sober, the less you'll think of drinking. The urge does go away in time.
