Addictive Belief System
I've been viewing this site for four years. I notice that what we all have in common is that we want and even expect, life to be easy, fair and painless and when it is not, we tend to regain control with a quick fix or mood changer or drugs, drink or some other behavior.

CRRHCC , Hi .
as innocent little chideren, very little we perhaps saw life as you describe but as we moved on we learned from whoever was in charge of us what we were supposed to do and how to behave . I dont beleive any adult would expect life to be easy ,fair and painless .
Hows life for you are you drinking or in recovery .

in active alcoholism/addiction? quite true.
in active recovery? quite the opposite.
we dont run for a quick fix any more- we decided to find new solutions- ones that werent helpin dig our graves.
This type of behavior is not the sole domain of alcoholics/addicts, it just manifests itself in alcholics/addicts in alcohol/drug use. In non-alcoholic/addicts, it can manifest itself in shopping, eating, material possessions,... controlling behavior, the list goes on and on.
Most of us grow out of the expectation that life will be easy, fair and painless. As for not wanting it to be easy fair and painless, well, I've never known anyone who has not tried, with nearly every decision, to make it so.
The trick is to find meaning in the difficulties of this existance.
There is not a drink or a drug that can make life meaningful.
