Hi again

not sure what that means - never drank gin much.

I did have a destructive addiction to alcohol tho - and this community really helped me turn my life around

Read around, ask as many questions as you like - look for the people who see, to have what you want

You'll find a lot of good ideas and great support here

D

First step, dump all the booze in the house down the sink and don't buy any more.

The first few weeks are very hard. You can train your brain and reclaim your life. We are here for support.

Keep moving forward!

That drunk for weeks thing is absolutely horrible. Want to stop but can't stop because my body needs alcohol to function. Can't run out of booze, so get to a store early to ensure there's enough to get through to the next time the shops open. I've been there, can you tell?

Outonthetiles is right - dump it all. Look in every hiding spot you can think of and rid your home of all bottles as well as your favorite drink containers. Next step: dealing with withdrawal. We'll help you with ways to do that if you want to write about it.

You absolutely CAN stop. I echo others here. Dump the booze and make a commitment to yourself that this is the end. Not one sip of alcohol will pass your lips ever again. Sounds simple but that's what it boils down to (for me anyway). Acceptance that not one drop of poison will pass my lips again. Ever.
I understand the fear and hopelessness. You aren't alone any more. SR is a wonderful community of support. Maybe check out the class of September 2017 and 24 hour daily thread as a start.
Keep reading and posting as much as you can. Trust me it helps. Take care

Good on you, Stanton. Do you work in a place that has an Employee Assistance Program or the equivalent? Sounds like you're from the UK, and I don't know what the name would be there.

If you find yourself having gross tremors (literally cannot control your movements) or seeing things that aren't there or your heart rate exceeds 100, please get to the emergency room quick.

Hang tight, go see the doctor if needed. Withdrawals can be very difficult and the doctor can help with it.

Hi Dee.
Got through the working day and most of the tremors have passed and got some appetite for food which is a relief for sure.
Feeling really greatful to all of you for such caring thoughts as well.
many thoughts to discuss and questions too when my mind slows down to and feel propperly relaxed and just not soooo anxious as i was this morning.

That's great news. Hopefully with each passing hour you'll feel a little more human. Take care
