Going on vacation!!
Hi all, just a quick check in to say hello. I've been inactive here for the past few weeks, just slammed with work to the point of exhaustion, but as of yesterday evening I finished everything I needed to and today me and my sons fly off to see family in the US. I cannot wait to get there.It is nearly 8 here, we have to leave the house at 11:30 and I still haven't packed..... that is how busy I have been. But I'll throw it together and we'll get there. The boys are really good travellers, I promised them we could buy a little book at the airport they can read on the plane.
I made the big pot of coffee this morning and will power through.
Over 5 months, solidly and happily sober here and keeping at it. I have a really nice September coming up, this vacation, then shortly after I return a very small wedding of a good friend- no big party, just a civil ceremony at the mayors office and then lunch at a restaurant. Then the Rolling Stones are coming to Lucca! i got a ticket! After that a fashion show at the villa I manage, I worked out a great rate in exchange for some clothing
And lastly, on the 30th, there is the awards ceremony for the writing contest I entered, the theme for the contest was "Dependence" and I wrote a piece on my alcoholism.
Stay strong and stay sober friends! I will check in sporadically until my return but all good here

I will share my writing after the contest, it is in Italian, but for ease I first wrote it in English then translated, so I still have that copy. Fingers crossed, I could win €400- much needed! But more than the money it would be a big boost to my self esteem.

Congrats on writing about your experiences; if you win great, if you don't I'm sure you will still inspire many others. Either way you win! Enjoy your trip and your time with family.
