Well....I'm trying to taper-off with low amounts of Vodka. It's working a little. It's been worse. I've gone to a Detox once & simply hated it. I have great insurance, but I can't be out of work. Advise?

Detox sucks for sure. But living in active addiction sucks worse. Have you considered outpatient detox? I believe there are a few in the Boston area.

I live on the North Shore. I should check. They always want you for 5 days (money maker) I did three my last & it was a rat pit (looked online & had no clue) Not to pull the "snob" card, but I had to sleep with my wallet in my pants. Never experienced in my life & it freaked me out!

You could talk to your dr and see if he thinks going cold turkey would work for you? I hope you find something that works for you.

Hahaha yeah. I went to McLean in Belmont and it was vile. That being said, it scared me so much I decided I'd never go through that again. There are outpatient centers in MA, but I am not sure where. You could always see if your PCP would let you taper down under his/her medical advice (usually they don't though).

Alcohol doesn't know about facilities. They treated me terrible. Felt like I was in preschool. I'm 51 & live in Magnolia, MA. Not a fun experience for sure. I'm coming down right now, but the tapering seems to be working slowly.
