Drinking again.

I got to day 5 and because it was payday I bought wine. AA was good. I don't think that there is any hope for me. I love guzzling wine. Seeing my shrink tomorrow to see if he can help.

I think there's a lot of hope for you
Like I said tho you need to make different decisions.

Dumping out the booze right now would be a great decision

You ran out of money with your last pay - at least go shopping so you can put food on the table now. No need to hit the bottlo - just the Coles or Woolies or whatever.

One AA meeting is great but it's not enough for real change.

I'd commit to going regularly (another reason to budget so you can put fuel in the car) and maybe even think about those Steps - I mean what have you got to lose but your misery?

Its not easy sweet. We all have our moments. Congrats on 5 days. Don't think about how you might have messed up. Think about how you're going to be sober right now. Did you call your sponsor? Use the program. You can win and succeed.

That's a good idea. Dumping out the wine would be an even better one...how about giving that a shot?

Ok so you went 5 days and then blew it. Tomorrow is a new day. Don't let this slip up be the reason to continue drinking. It was a mistake now move on from it. You can do this.

Well done. Stay strong. Put today behind you and concentrate on now. No other time or place matters. Just now. God bless.

Good job. Painful for sure, but not nearly as painful as it would be tomorrow if you would have drank it all, right?

Good move, sweeti. You deserve so much more than what's in a bottle of wine. You did 5 days before, you can do it again and more. Give yourself a chance at a new, better, deeper life for yourself. (If nothing else think of the money you'll save and can use to do something healthy and good and lasting for yourself!)

There is always hope, always a better day, always the sun coming up tomorrow. You can do it. We are so glad you came to talk to us here. We understand and are pulling for you.

SC, I know as well as you do that Payday is always triggering for you. Maybe this is a good time to chat to your AA pal about a plan for getting through the next one without picking up. Maybe invite her round to dinner or something else that will stregthen your resolve and give you an alternative focus. Have something else lined up for that tricky period. It's time to break that 'It's payday so drink' pattern you've got going there.

And yes - you like guzzing wine. But you don't like all the other stuff that comes on the back of it. And you can't have one without the other. Time has shown you that much already.

SC, so much good advice here and brilliant news that you threw the wine away,it's misery in a pretty bottle. You did 5 days, you know you can do it. I wish you well over the next difficult days, be good to yourself:

Fixed your post, Sweetichick. Own that problem.

Good job on dumping the rest of your wine.

You can do this!

Seeetichick--

5 days is pretty good. No, it's great. Plainly you are not ata point where many of us have been: acute physical withdrawals. Shaking at 7:30 am, pounding wine just to make it through the morning. That has been a lot of us. It was me 8 months ago. I have relapsed numerous times, and am about to go into outpatient rehab. But thankfully can quit without going into acute withdrawal.

You really are at a critical point. Get out now before this thing gets much, much worse. You do not want to go there. It is not worth it.

There is definitely hope for you. I did not think I could ever stop drinking. It was not until I decided, this is it, I will never, ever put another drink to my mouth if it goddamn kills me...that I could actually get sober.

Next time it is pay day and you want to buy wine why not go to a meeting instead? Get a sponsor. Call your sponsor. Work the steps. That is how I did it.

good on ya for making the meeting.
i hope you didnt think 1 meeting was going to change anything- 1 meeting would remove the mental obsession.
going to meetings and not drinking dont treat alcoholism.

If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it-then you are ready to take certain steps.

Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery.

there IS hope for you,SC, but ya gotta do the work. theres no magical pill. no magical sober dust. no magical things a therapist can do even to get a person sober.

its our responsibility to take accountability for our own actions that help us to recover. AA can teach me. a therapist can listen and give me suggestions.
but im responsible for doing the action.

what were your thoughts on rehab?
