Question Is eating a lot in early recovery a sign of cross addiction with food?

Or does it just mean you are hungry? I am at 1.5 months and my eating is just too much. Maybe it's just replacing the empty calories from the wine and it will even out. I mean I'm not eating ALL day, but I'll eat a full meal and NOT feel full!

I can't stop eating cheezits... i just keep eating them constantly

For me no, in the first two weeks I ate whatever I wanted. Whatever I could hold down the first few days. After that I tried to make healthy choices and eat a balanced diet to stabilize my blood sugar and weight.

probably not, go and ahead eat up! Priority early on is not to drink, first and foremost.

We tend to throw the word "addiction" around. If your eating makes your life unmanageable, then it's cause for alarm.

You are likely craving carbs and sugars, things that are replete in booze (empty carbs and sugar), especially wine. . I agree with the post above. Eat what you want for now. It is almost unheard for folks to put on a lot of weight after successfully quitting alcohol. I would not worry about it right now.

Well, that does not sound bad all. Are you putting on weight?

Yeah a lot of us develop a sweet tooth or a junk food thing - try to stick to natural healthy food as much as you can maybe?

Yeah I've heard from lots of people that after quitting tons of people crave sugar, maybe try eating sugary fruits and see if that helps.

I lost the bloat and some weight from the wine. It is hard to tell. I lost 5 pounds, but I'm eating like a horse.

Well i gave up the hard candy and gummy bears. But, now I like microwave popcorn and ice cream. It's not like...insane amounts...but I do like to eat ice cream at 10pm.

I had that same fear early on as I was eating an absurd amount of sugar. It evened out on its own over time. Keep going and don't worry about the food, eating feels good and we all want to feel good. It's way healthier than drinking, which felt good too but came with such a heavy cost.
