Entering day 6 and holding steady. Yesterday for the first time, I experienced one of my triggers. My routine was, drive home, open the garage door, and think about the next thing- have a glass of wine. Since there is no alcohol in my home now, it's no longer an option. I worked past that thought and here I am. Very happy. Trying to find other things to do and enjoy. It's much easier to do with a clear head and a bit more energy.

Great work, Sandra! I am inspired to read this first-thing in the morning. What did you enjoy doing the most before drinking took up your time? I found that I went back to my most enjoyable hobbies since drinking was no longer taking up my time.

I used to craft quite a bit. I'm hoping to carve time out of my week to do that, along with reading, and just doing more out of the house. I tend not to drink when I'm out, most of the time at home, so I am looking for those other things that brought me joy. Thanks!

It's funny how things can cruise along fine and then seemingly out of nowhere it seems for a moment, entirely logical, to pour a large glass of wine. But we know where that leads. Great job!

Sandra, almost one week done and dusted. You should be so proud of yourself!

I found reniewed interest in a lot of neglected old hobbies once I stopped drinking. Good to hear that you also feel a bit more energized. Things will continue to improve as time goes by, and if I remember correctly as you said in a previous post (different thread), you WILL start getting your life back.

Sandra - proud of you. Those challenges & triggers do get much easier to cope with as we get some sober time behind us. It's good that you're keeping busy & distracting yourself from obsessing about 'not drinking'. It was such a part of my life that I had to learn to live in a whole new way. You're doing great.
