Early Recovery

So often, loved ones will live for years hoping that the loved alcoholic spouse or partner....or family member will just get sober....
.....then, life will be wonderful.
As the many posts on this forum reveal....the loved one is unprepared for the issues that come to the surface AFTER the alcoholic returns home, fresh from rehab. or, otherwise...puts down the bottle....
This is often shocking and leaves the loved one spinning in confusion...
I have found a surprising lack of literature that prepares for the changes that sobriety brings to a relationship....
However, I did stumble across some books, on Amazon, today...that I, previously, overlooked!
For anyone who is interested.....here they are...they can be purchased very inexpensively....

"Loving Someone in Recovery"
"Everything Changes"
"Living With sobriety"

Amazon is a great source, often having used Alanon and recovery-type books for literally a penny, w/shipping being $3.99 for a total of 4 bucks.

I also wanted to share a "cheap book" resource a fellow member here at SR passed on to me: https://www.thriftbooks.com/

Thriftbooks offers free shipping w/a $10 purchase and has at least 2 of the 3 books that dandy mentioned. Typing in "Alanon" or "recovery" as search terms will bring up many other choices that will likely prove helpful, too.

Some Alanon groups have lending libraries, monthly recovery booklets and/or low cost books for sale. The welcome packets include great info, possibly with the Just For Today bookmark.

Thanks, Honeypig, for posting this great reminder for all of us, including those who are new here.

One day at a time, life keeps getting better.
