New to the Group

Good Morning,

I am writing here because I am at the end of my ropes. I have been a heavy drinker for many years now and recently I started getting injections to help me with my drinking. The issue is I'm still drinking and I feel its because I do not have a support system. The problem is the injection takes the urge and the desire but I still drink out of habit. I don't crave the drink but because I cant seem to find passion in the things I use to do I still end up drinking. I have a general fear of AA but I still need a support group. I think this a good step but I could definitely use some advice. Being new to this scene is scary but I'm running out of options. If I don't stay sober I cannot get my next injection next month. Thank you all in advance for whatever advice you can give.

Welcome, and I think you are finding that it's just really hard to stop drinking and to stay sober. We do understand. Hold on to your motivation and work on a recovery plan that will work for you.

May I ask what the injection is? I am interested to see whether it is available in Australia as we have a shortage of antabuse here until Dec so my prescription is fast running out.

the only way to get any help- is making an effort to overcome your fear. give meetings a go, you have nothing to lose.
