Starting Again: Day 2
I haven't been able to abstain from alcohol for more than a week for the last twenty years. I'm trying again because you can move hundred of miles away from where you drink and think the problem is gone. You can think your life has turned around and then you find you're still an alcoholic. I hate using that word but that is the truth about who I am.
So, now I have two days sober with a skin rash around my liver, itching, a swollen belly, and weighing thirty pounds more than I did. I'm having a hard time doing my work and performing at the level that I should; so, I stopped. But it's very hard for me. I've gotten used to counting on no one other than a glass of wine which by the end of the night becomes a bottle.

Auxilio,
Glad you've made the decision to change your life. I know how hard it is in the beginning (former wine drinker myself), but in time...you will begin to feel the freedom that comes along with putting the bottle behind you. Make recovery your #1 priority, develop a plan that works for you and don't listen to your AV(addictive voice) when it's telling you that you're able to drink again. It's not easy, but it WILL get easier...
Wishing you the best in your recovery journey!

Welcome to SR. Hang in there! I know I had tried to quit countless times before only to slip a few days later. It's worth it in the end, trust me!
Dealing with the feeling of sobriety at nighttime when you're used to going to bed loaded can be tough. I wish you the best in recovery.
