New here, desperate to quit alcohol

Hello. I'm a 40 year old male in Australia. I've been drinking heavily for around d 14 years. It started with a bottle of wine a night and stayed that way for at least 10 years but in the last few months, I've been drinking over that, sometimes almost 2 bottles (13% white wine)

I know this may not be a lot compared to others but for me its become a problem. I always think, I'll make this my last night for a while, but the next night I always end up drinking. I can't seem to stop myself.

I've had ultra sound scans on my tummy last year and they came up with no issues. However I always have a dull pain in my right side of abdomen. Recently I also noticed white spots on my nails, Terrys nails on my feet and I am getting a little dizzy.

While I am not massively worried as am sure once I completely stop, my health will improve, today I have made a serious decision to stop.

So this is me. Hello.

Hey Vinono!

I'm just 2 days in to my first real attempt at bettering my life by giving up the booze. Let's do this starting today!

Wonderful to meet you, Vinono. I'm glad you're concerned about what alcohol is doing to your health and your life.

I drank 30 yrs. I started out rather slowly, but as you've probably heard - alcoholism is a progressive disease. It began to take more & more to give the same effect. In the end, I was drinking every day, completely dependent on it. When I found SR I was so relieved to find others just like me - we never have to feel alone anymore. Welcome!

You can absolutely stop completely Vinono - a little effort and commitment can go a long way.

Have you thought any on the nut and bolts of how you'll stay sober?
