I'm sure you've checked online but, I know when I went to mexico I stopped by an English speaking meeting. My attorney(I was court ordered at first) laughed about that being on my signed sheet for the courts. "You actually went to AA while on vacation?" was his response. LOL
Have you checked the Intergroup page on the Web ? Not sure what part of France you are in, but this page has listings for English meetings in Paris, Normandy, Southern and SW France (see links at bottom under "other meetings in France"). Good luck ! aaparis.org: The Official site Website of English-speaking Paris Alcoholics Anonymous
Why not try a French speaking one? It will be good for your language skills if you live there anyway. It also might be nice to get to know some French people. I too would have preferred and English speaking meeting but the Italian speaking ones worked out just fine.
These are the links I sent to you previously. They should help.
I understand what you are going through Mummy, even though my problem isn't the language...
Outside of Paris it's really hard to find active AA groups and if you're lucky enough to find a group they only hold one or two meetings per month.
No big deal, here on SR we have an army of friends willing to help us
No excuses,we gotta stay sober
I wish you all the best in your sober journey

Online resources can be helpful, especially SR with their daily threads and all sorts of different types of people all trying to do the same things for themselves.
Sounds like you have the beginnings of a plan.

I had the same issue a few years ago when I lived in Germany, I was in the Army and their attitude was pretty much "you have seen **** no one else see's and you have beers with the lads to relax, it's no problem". Trying to get outside help was a nightmare as my German sucks!! At that time I used a contact in UK and used Skype to access his group sessions. I have never used AA (as I am a sad loner who prefers my own company haha) but I do believe you can access AA type meetings online so might be worth a google search.
Thanks Expongo found this
