How to view discomfort in early sobriety... One tool that may be very helpful...

I am reading helpful resources today, all day...

Here is something that is actually helping me RIGHT NOW.
Because we have to face/approach our various moments of discomfort with our moods, life situations, others... in new ways now, in sobriety... Those feelings of discomfort wont disappear with getting sober. They will keep happening, because we are HUMAN BEINGS. Discomfort is part of that deal.
So lets find other ways of dealing with those moments...

An uncomfortable feeling is like a compassionate alarm clock that says, “You’re in the dream.” It’s time to investigate, that’s all. (Just investigate).
But if we don’t honor the alarm clock, then we try to alter and manipulate the feeling by reaching into an apparent external world. (in our case, alcohol, sugar, whatever)

Thanks for the post herculana 💜 sitting with discomfort and processing difficult emotions instead of numbing ourselves is definitely a challenge x
